Dr. Kelly Barrat of Heartland Animal Hospital and Veterinary Services which is based out of Listowel, Drayton and Mount Forest has received the America Association of Bovine Practitioners top honour.
Barrat has been named the 2021 Bovine Practitioner of the year.
Barratt makes history as the first woman to receive the award.
The award helps honour a practicing vet who is active in organized veterinary medicine and has made contributions to bovine medicine.
Typically given out during the associations annual conference in Utah but due to travel restrictions, Barrat was informed ahead of time with her speech recorded.
