Dead Crow in Guelph Tests Positive for West Nile Virus

A dead crow has tested positive for West Nile Virus.

Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health says the bird was found in Guelph and suggests mosquitoes carrying the virus could be present and precautions need to be taken to reduce bites.

Symptoms typically begin two to 14 days after a mosquito bite and could include fever, headache, body aches and nausea.

Dr. Matthew Tenenbaum, Associate Medical Officer of Health says while the risk in the region is still low, West Nile Virus is present and people should be stay vigilant.
