A cyberattack against St Marys last summer has costed the town around $1.3 million as well as a $290,000 bitcoin ransom payment paid to the hackers.
The towns computer systems were hit with the attack on July 20th last year with St Marys cybersecurity team later received a ransom demand from LockBit.
St Marys hired a third party negotiator to arrange for the ransom payment sending $290,000 to the hackers to get keys to the computer systems.
