Its expected in council tonight for North Perth to approve the North Perth Firefighter Monument Policy.

In 2012, the monument to honour Kenneth Rea and Raymond Walter was established, both of who lost their lives battling a fire on March 17th, 2011.

A committee was also formed of members of the Rea and Walter families, North Perth council, municipal administration, the fire department and local service clubs.

When the monument was designed the committee agreed the design would allow for additional names to be added but a formal policy was not drafted.

On March 13th the Workplace Safety and Insurance Board approved a claim for a deceased firefighter recognizing his death as a Line of Duty Death.

Decisions around the monument could have emotional impact on those connected to the 2011 tragedy and as such, a policy has been drafted and heads to council tonight.
