During Monday’s council meeting, North Perth council discussed backyard burning.
The session was to inform residents and remind them of who to call if they wish to register a complaint as around this time of year, calls arrive in all directions from OPP to the fire department to bylaw officers.
CAO Kriss Snell says its important to call only when the incident is happening.
“Complaints must be registered when the incident is occurring. The reason is, its very hard for bylaw enforcement to investigate a burn incident after the fact.” said Snell
Fire department staff is currently reviewing the bylaw.
A brochure over viewing the by-law of backyard burning is still being reviewed and will be handed out to the public as a reminder in the near future.
