With Giving Tuesday coming on November 28th the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority is encouraging residents to give back in support for local turtles.
The conservation authority says very few endangered turtles make it to adulthood who face threats from predators, roadway traffic and declining wetland habitat.
In response the Southern Ontario At Risk Reptiles program has taken action to protect reptiles with habitat creation, egg incubation and more.
The program helped save 10,000 eggs which the conservation authority adds if left unprotected 100% of turtle eggs laid along the Thames River would never hatch.
For Giving Tuesday, residents are invited to show their support with a donation to SOARR.
