A woman who has been dubbed “Mitchell’s Mom” has been chosen as the 2021 Rotary Club of Mitchell’s Citizen of the Year.
Nominators called Colleen Johnson such things as a “beautiful soul” adding that her efforts in the community showed she is a prime persona of community and small-town living.
She was called selfless, and has assisted in such things as assisting Claire Bear, a beloved little youngster of Mitchell, and her family in their battle since a cancer diagnosis and subsequent relapses.
She assisted the family with such things as a meal calendar, assisted with shopping and even organized a tractor parade for Claire’s brother Clayton as a show of support when was found to be a bone marrow match.

The announcement of the honour was made on April 20th at Johnson’s home.
