Charlene O’Reilly of Seaforth awarded Sandra Thompson Memorial Accessibility Champion Award

Award established this year to honour memory of Sandra Thompson, local accessibility champion dedicated to improving the Huron community, and to celebrate International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd.

 

The County of Huron announced that Charlene O’Reilly of Seaforth has been awarded the 2022 Sandra Thompson Memorial Accessibility Champion Award by the Accessibility Advisory Committee.

The award was established this year to honour the memory of Sandra Thompson, a local accessibility champion dedicated to improving the Huron community, and to celebrate the International Day of Persons with Disabilities on December 3rd.

The award is given to someone who has shown dedication & commitment to promoting accessibility, demonstrated commitment & leadership toward advancing, building a more inclusive community and making a difference in the lives of people living with a disability.

The Committee says that Charlene exemplified all of the criteria through her many contributions to the local community. They include 8 years as a member of the Accessibility Committee, Chair of the Accessiblity Committee of the 2017 International Plowing Match and advising on many construction & renovation projects around teh County.
