North Perth council returned to the discussion of a proposed bird watching program around the Wastewater Treatment Plant Lagoons.
Staff had looked into both the positives which included a boost to tourism and local shops as well as the negatives such as the growing Canada Geese population which could affect crop loss nearby property owners concerned with trespassing.
An alternate location which would utilize the Storm Water Management Pond by the proposed dog park location was proposed which Mark Hackett says could balance well cost wise.
“I think we’ll have some synergies there, kind of piggybacking with the development of the dog park, sharing the pathway back to the area and as I mentioned there is already parking available, things like that.” said Hackett.
Council accepted the updated proposal and will direct staff to look further for a Bird Watching Program around the new location near the Steve Kerr.
