The Township of Centre Wellington shared an advisory on the topic of Unauthorized Fire Hydrant Use.
In the post they say that taking water from a hydrant is illegal and a criminal offence.
Unauthorized use can affect water quality by disturbing the water system, causing discoloured water and low pressure.
That add it can introduce contaminants into the drinking water system or damage it and delay firefighting efforts.
They say if you observe anyone taking water from a hydrant that is not Centre Wellington Fire Rescue or Township staff to contact them at the number at our website.
