Centre Wellington looking for Public’s input in Fergus

The public will have their say during the consultation step of the process

Centre Wellington Residents will have a say in how the future of St. David Street North in Fergus will look as the local government works on the reconstruction of the street after infrastructure work is completed.

The plan was outlined at a February 22nd council meeting. It involves replacing the watermain, sewers and storm water drains along the street from St. Andrew to Edinburg in 2023.

Currently the road is 2 lanes wide with just over 2 dozen on-street parking spaces in that section of road.

Options such as cycling lanes are being considered but some councilors aren’t in favour of such an option on the main thoroughfare.

Options such as an alternate truck route to move trucks out of the downtown core are also being considered.

The public will have a chance to have their say during the public consultation stage.

Cost of the project is estimated at 2.97 million.
