The Canadian Olympic Committee has announced the inaugural recipients of the Team Canada Olympic Day Grant.
Six Canadian schools will see $5000 to help empower students to play and stay in sport as well as receive a 90 minute motivational speech from a Team Canada Athlete.
Among the schools is Centre Wellington District High School with its winning program which helped empower girls and gender diverse students through the introduction of power lifting and Olympic weightlifting programs.
The $5000 grant will support and advance outdoor courts from grass to sand to keep students playing volleyball for longer seasons and have an outdoor option during the summer months.
625 applicants submitted for the grant with 6 being chosen.
