Centre Wellington Developing Housing Action Plan

Centre Wellington is working at developing a Housing Action Plan, looking to build on the Housing Needs Assessment done last year.

Housing pressures continued to be felt in Centre Wellington with the rising cost of housing, rental availability and changing household needs with constrained range of housing options affecting residents across different stages of life.

Senior Policy & Housing Planner, Emma South says this plan will allow them to take a thoughtful look at what can be done locally and importantly learn from the people who live and work here about what housing means to them and what they believe our community needs.

The Housing Action Plan will look at where the township can have the greatest influence through municipal planning, policy, regulatory, financial and other tools.

There are a series of pop up meetings taking place across the township for residents to learn more and share their thoughts which includes;

  • Open Sky Live – Thursday, September 3, 6:00 to 9:00 p.m., Elora Centre for the Arts
  • Cogs and Clockwork Festival – Saturday, September 12, 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., Downtown Fergus
  • Elora Farmers’ Market – Saturday, September 19, 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Bissell Park
