With the surge of warmer weather and snow melt, the Upper Thames River Conservation Authority continues to urge caution around streams and rivers.
A low pressure system entered the region and with it over the week is 20-30mm of rain and daytime temperatures well above freezing.
The snowpack across the watershed is about 75mm of water according to a snow survey on February 2nd.
The warmer weather and rain will cause runoff into local watercourses with flood waters expected to spill into low lying floodplain areas that typically flood in the spring.
The public is reminded to use extreme caution near streams, rivers, ditches and ponds with stream banks being slippery and unstable.
The conservation authority says it is not safe to take shelter along the riverbanks or in low lying areas that are prone to flooding.
