Despite the pandemic, Canadian maple producers harvested 14.3 million gallons of maple syrup this year, well passing last years record of 13.2, a 8.3% increase.
According to Stats Canada, the increased harvest and production netted a total sale of $558.5 million. Maple producers this year had to make a big change on their sales by closing off in-person visiting to farms early during the pandemic.
Some producers went straight to online for sales as many other events to sell their product were all canceled.
