It was a complete sweep for Canada’s ladies in New York at Lake Placid for the FISU World University Games which saw Palmerston native Leah Herrfort show off true local representation.
Canada stayed flawless all the way up to the gold medal game against Japan. Audrey Anne Veillette broke the deadlock in the 2nd period to give Canada a 1-0 lead.
The Canadians controlled the game ending with shots 36-12 and securing the gold medal blanking Japan 5-0.
Herrfort has been lighting the lamp this year with the University of Waterloo who through 16 games has 10 goals with 13 assists.
