Canada Approves Use AstraZeneca Vaccine

Canada approves use of third vaccine

Health Canada has approved the use of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine with the country reserving 20 million doses, enough to vaccinate 10 million Canadians.

AstraZeneca’s COVID-19 vaccine has proven to be 62.1 percent effective, which despite being much lower than Pfizer of Moderna’s effectiveness is still a great resource in the fight against COVID-19. The vaccine has shown no safety concerns. AstraZenecas vaccine can be stored at room temperature.

Unlike the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, AstraZeneca’s dose uses a more conventional viral vector load vaccine technology.

Johnson & Johnsons COVID-19 vaccine – which only requires one dose is said to be close to being approved in Canada.
