The Triebner Tract in Exeter has a new orchard planted.
The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority and Forest Gene Conservation Authority have planted a butternut orchard in the area which will be maintained by both groups for 15 years to help the species grow and maintain in the area.
The Triebner Tract covers 100 acres with the new Butternut Archive Orchard to help the efforts of the conservation authorities to protect and restore the property.
Due to fungal infections, the once popular tree in the region has since become endangered.
