Wellington County has officially taken the change to the Blue Box service.
As of July 1st, the county no longer is responsible for providing blue box services and instead take on a full producer responsibility system.
While the transition has started, it’s expected to be in full effect across the county by January 1st of next year.
In simple terms there isn’t any major change for residents but those who see their blue box collection missed or need a new one will need to contact Waste Management instead of the County.
This change was made by the provincial government four years ago with new regulations to make producers fully accountable and financially responsible for their products.
