Attempted Break-In with Weapon leads to charges

Accused is appearing in Guelph Court to answer to 15 charges

Wellington County OPP responded to a report of a person armed with a knife attempting to break into a resident in the area of Darkwood Road and Little Road in Puslinch Township.

On December 24th at approximately 8:30pm police received reports the suspect was threatening people and assaulted one of the residents.

The suspect began smashing windows to the home and also damaging Christmas decorations and a vehicle parked on the property.

As police arrived on the scene, the suspect attempted to flee in a vehicle. The suspect’s vehicle collided with a police cruiser that was arriving on the scene.

After a brief foot chase, the driver was placed under arrest.

The accused and victims are known to each other. One victim was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

A 33 year old resident of Hamilton has been charged with;

  • 4 counts of uttering threats – cause death
  • Attempted break and enter
  • Assault
  • 2 counts of failure to comply with a release order – other than attend court
  • flight from a peace officer
  • dangerous operation of a vehicle
  • resisting peace officer
  • assault with a weapon
  • mischief
  • mischief over $5000
  • mischief under $5000

The Accused is scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Guelph.
