Additional cases of Covid-19 at Exeter Villa LTC

Exeter Villa Long-term Care Home is reporting additional positive cases of Covid-19 bringing the total number to 8; 4 in residents and 4 in staff. All affected residents continue to be cared for at Exeter Villa. There are no cases in the Exeter Villa Retirement Home.

Exeter Villa is working closely with Huron Perth Public Health to support case and contact management and infection control. Exeter Villa continues to maintain all outbreak measures to protect their staff and residents.

The outbreak was declared at Exeter Villa on December 18th when 1 staff tested positive for Covid-19 through regular prevalence testing. All 8 cases were found through prevalence testing. All residents in the long-term care side of Exeter Villa are under isolation as a precaution, including the 4 positive residents who have been moved to a special, protective area away from others.

The 4 staff members are self-isolating at home.

Prevalence testing at Exeter Villa is done weekly for staff and every 5-6 days for residents.

The Huron Perth Public Heath website does not yet reflect these additional cases; new cases will not appear in Huron Perth data until Monday, December 28th.
