January 25th 2020: The first confirmed case of COVID-19 in Canada.

A man in his 50’s returned to Toronto from Wuhan, China later being admitted to hospital for mild symptoms of pneumonia which later confirmed a case of COVID-19. The man would recover from the virus. The mans wife would catch the virus the following day starting the spread, eventually arriving in British Columbia just days later.

The first COVID-19 death was reported on March 9th from a man in a care home in British Columbia. The first death in Ontario was reported on March 11th, confirmed by a coroner just days later.

Doug Ford announced the first lockdown on March 12th.

To date 255,002 confirmed cases have been reported in Ontario. 280,573 have been vaccinated for COVID-19 in the province. 19,094 have died in Canada from COVID-19, 5811 in Ontario.
