The City of Stratford held a successful tabletop emergency exercise last Wednesday, bringing municipal employees, emergency services and community partners for a mock disaster.
The exercise dubbed “Operation Critical Crossing” simulated a tanker truck carrying gasoline crashing with a locomotive with rail cars carrying anhydrous ammonia.
The simulated crash was on the Erie Street crossing near Monteith Avenue.
Deputy Fire Chief Richard Anderson who also serves as the City’s Community Emergency Management Co-ordinator says this was a positive test and a great way to hone these skills needed in a crisis situation.
