The Hanover and District Hospital is dealing with long wait times and high volumes of patients coming to the emergency department.
A number of patients coming to their care are waiting for inpatient beds, limiting staffs capacity to see new patients as quickly as they’d like.
The hospital is reminding the public emergency care does not operate on a first come, first serve basis but instead based on urgency of their condition.
Further arriving by EMS does not mean immediate treatment as if you’re deemed fit to sit, you might be placed in the waiting room like other patients.
Those with conditions not an emergency are asked to contact your family doctor, go to a walk in clinic or use virtual care services.
