It’s been a tough several months in Huron County for victims of scams who over the last few months a total of $943,000 has been lost in these frauds.
From August 30th-October 31st, OPP received nine reports of signficant fraud across the county with eight victims believing their money was being invested in the stock market or crypto with another being the victim of a romance scam.
Those scammed include losses of;
– August 30th – $130,000 lost – 55-yr-old Central Huron resident,
– August 31st – $52,000 lost – 67-yr-old Bluewater resident,
– September 9th – $88,500 lost – 68-yr-old Bluewater resident,
– September 20th – $401,000 lost – 76-yr-old South Huron resident,
– September 22nd – $74,000 lost – 69-yr-old South Huron resident,
– September 22nd – $72,600 lost – 85-yr-old North Huron resident,
– October 1st – $10,000 lost – 64-yr-o ld North Huron resident,
– October 30th – $80,000 lost – 80-yr-old Central Huron resident (Romance Scam),
– October 31st – $35,000 lost – 70-yr-old Central Huron resident.
