An off duty officer has nabbed a shoplifter in Exeter.
On February 20th just after 5pm an off duty officer was in town when they received information about a shoplifting incident which had occurred a business on Thames Road East.
The officer followed the suspect a short distance and when a police badge was produced the suspect tried resisting arrest but was subdued by the officer.
The accused was found to have $750 worth of stolen goods.
As a result a 33 year old of no fixed address has been charged with Theft under $5000, Resisting a Peace Officer and Possession of Methamphetamine.
The accused was remanded into custody with a future court date.
