It’s a no go for backyard chickens across Wellington County.
A request for allowing backyard chickens in urban areas of Wellington North made its grounds again in the township.
The proposal however but did not get the support from council or from chicken farmers such as Sean McDermid who cited various concerns on the proposal as seen from residents against the move.
“Those who live in town listed odor, noise, rodents and other reasons against this petition as well. ” said McDermid.
McDermid also spoke on the current spread of the avian influenza affecting the country which councilor Steve McCabe added they are in one of the hardest hit areas which has seen now 3 outbreaks across Wellington County.
