Stratford is planning to apply for funding for three active transportation projects with Infrastructure Canada’s $400 million Active Transportation Fund.
The project from the city is estimated to be a mix of a $1.18 million expansion of the multi use trail from Erie Street to Lorne Avenue to the city limits, a $1.45 million bike lane and sidewalk installation on McCarthy Road from Mornington Street to Romeo Street North as well as a $1.24 million multi use trail on Douro Street and C.H Meier Boulevard from Romeo Street South to Devon Street.
While officials don’t expect all three applications to go through, any project which is approved will have 60 per cent of costs covered.
Should any application be approved, Stratford will have a five year timeline to finish such projects.
The city hopes to hear back later this year.
