North Perth council has approved support for the efforts to help bring an agriculture based science centre to the community.

North Perth Mayor Todd Kasenberg says the decision to support was a no-brainier, North Perth prides itself on the agriculture industry.

“It’s pretty obvious that Perth County, and I’ll argue even more carefully North Perth is the heart of agriculture in Ontario.” said Kasenberg.

Kasnberg added this gives North Perth the chance to have a centre with an incredibly unique approach.

“We have the opportunity to do something really innovative and unique in North America. It will appeal to a broad range of ages and celebrate and harness the energy this community has for agriculture.”

The agriculture science centre could be ready by 2024 if property is donated and facility operational expenses are provided, though council has not yet discussed finances that far ahead.
