Organizers and a volunteer group known as Trees for Woolwich will help put a new 67-acre nature reserve together in Elmira.
The township has set aside the nature reserve as part of their habitat project from last year. The township owns the land with the group of volunteers doing the work involved in bringing in the nature reserve.
Around 3000 additional trees will be planted on the existing land.
Most of the area is flood plain, not suitable for residential or industrial land which the Trees for Woolwich chair says is ideal for the nature reserve.
