Huron Perth Public Health held a media briefing today to announce there are 16 new cases of Covid 19 in the community.
The cases were cumulative from the past 2 days due to with data cleaning.
The breakdown of locations are 1 in North Perth and Central Huron, 5 in Perth East and 9 in Stratford.
This brings the total of active cases in the region to 61.
40 of the cases are at the continuing outbreak at Cedarcroft Retirement Home in Stratford.
There has been 1 additional death in the region with another resident at Cedarcroft passing away due to covid 19.
Dr. Klassan says that when outbreaks such as this happen there are limits in staff.
“Everyone is competing for the same personal support workers, nursing staff and cleaning staff. When there is an outbreak the needs go up and often times as you’ve seen when staff get sick the number of available staff go down.”
