Terry Fox may have undertaken his Marathon of Hope over 40 years ago but that hasn’t stopped him being an inspiration for a Fergus resident to undertake fundraising marathons of her own.

Zoe Clarke has organized 205 separate marathons Canada. Each individual leg is 42.2 kilometres in length. The entire distance will be from St. Johns, Newfoundland to Tofino, British Columbia and run from May 17th to August 27th. The public is being invited to take part in the leg that is closest to them. It is $20 for runners to register which includes insurance for their participation and the rest going to charity.

Clarke says the inspiration all started with Terry Fox

“Then September came and the story of Terry Fox was on the news and I just started feeling really inspired.” said Clarke

205 supports charities such as Jack.org to support mental health, Actors Fund of Canada, Wildlife Conservation Society of Canada, True North Aid and the Canadian Alliance to Eng Homelessness.
