Cost sharing among the larger talking points

Xinyi Canada held their second information session yesterday.

The online session was a second chance for the public to get answers to the questions they’ve sent in since the last information session. A big question on locals minds, cost sharing. Chris Pidgeon, representing Xinyi during the session said Xinyi will be taking their share of the cost to benefit Stratford.

“Xinyi is going to pay their fair share. They’re paying 6-7 million. The city of Stratford is paying 5-6 million. The city will receive that money back from Xinyi once they’re up and running in two years based on property tax alone.” said Pidgeon

Pidgeon added some improvements for Stratford will come regardless of the final decision

“Some of the road improvements are already required whether Xinyi comes or not. The sanitary pump station will be not just for Xinyi but the other lands that were annexed as a part of Stratfords annexation.”

Stratford council will meet at a future date to consider and approve the development agreement for the project.
