Protesters can be found across the country today under the 1 Million March 4 Children banner, including a group in Listowel.
According to the “1 Million March 4 Children” website, the marches are being held to advocate “for the elimination of the Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity (SOGI) curriculum, pronouns, gender ideology and mixed bathrooms in schools.”
Other planned protests around the area includes Hanover and Durham.
The Avon Maitland District School Board in a statement wrote the following;
“We are aware of the planned protests being promoted across Canada today to “protect our children from indoctrination and sexualization.” Unfortunately there is misinformation being spread along with these protests that is fuelled by hate-based inaccuracies about what is happening in schools. We are focused on creating inclusive, safe spaces, and on ensuring the well-being of all students and staff.”
A statement from the Municipality of North Perth says they support the right to protest but also stand with the 2SLGBTQIA+ community and their right to live safely.
