The poetry has been submitted and the winners will be announced next week during a presentation at the North Perth Public Library.
Students last month were welcome to submit their poetry as part of the Youth Poetry contest with the library who have now run it for two years.
This year the theme for the poetry was weather and as North Perth Librarian Jennifer Croft says it left much open for students to work with.
“Whether it was a season they felt something about or an actual weather event that they recognized and dived into them and write a poem that means something to them” said Croft
A presentation hosted by a bestselling poet from Waterloo who along with the public have acted as a judge for the poetry contest with the event getting underway at 6:30pm on Tuesday.
