Workplace Inspection Blitz Coming to Huron-Perth

Restaurants providing takeout, big box stores and farm operations on the priority list for inspection

Both Huron and Perth counties will be the target areas for the next round of a workplace inspection blitz.

Inspectors and officers will be prioritizing big box stores, restaurants providing take out meals and farming operations. The main hit for farming inspections will be those who employ migrant workers to ensure all health and safety measures are in place for the season.

Corporations can face fines of $1000 for failing to meet proper COVID-19 guidelines under the Reopening Ontario Act and Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act. More serious violations can run up a fine of $100,000 and potential imprisonment for up to one year.

The Ontario government announced earlier last week officials would be visiting various regions doing inspections on businesses to ensure all COVID-19 protocols are being followed.
