The Listowel Wingham Hospital Alliance (LWHA) announced yesterday that the emergency department at the Wingham District Hospital will be closed tonight and will reopen on Aug. 16 at 7a.m.
Midwestern Newspapers writes that there has not been a specific reason released stating why the emergency department will be closed but LWHA stated in a release that COVID-19 “continues to be present throughout our community and a single staff sick call may result in additional closures.”
Patients are asked to call 911 if they have a medical emergency.
EMS will remain available to the community and will reroute them to surrounding hospitals to ensure continued access to emergency services.
