With February 2nd marking Groundhog Day, many seeing at the next winter storm currently blowing through the region looked on as the new Wiarton Willie would make the prediction to see 6 more weeks or winter or an early spring.
The result rolled in just after 8am which saw Wiarton Willie’s prediction of an early spring.
The livestream saw many tune in locally and from Toronto and Muskoka.
This year marked the 66th Wiarton Willie festival which was held virtually with many tuning in from YouTube and the South Bruce Peninsula’s social medias.
Wiarton Willie’s counterparts, Punxsutawney Phil and Shubenecadie Sam both predicted an extra six weeks of winter.
Organizers are hopeful for the return of an in person event for next year.
