West Nile Virus activity has been found in Listowel.
Huron Perth Public Health says mosquitoes collected from a trap in Listowel has come back positive for West Nile Virus, being the first positive findings of the season in Perth and Huron counties.
Dale Lyttle, Senior Public Health Inspector for Public Health says this isn’t surprising as in the late summer months, people are at the greatest risks of contracting West Nile Virus so its important to protect yourself while outdoors.
Public health says using insect repellent, covering up with light coloured clothes and removing standing water around your home at least once a week to reduce mosquito breeding grounds are ideal tips to use.
