Wellington Terrace Long Term Care home has had a staff member receive an inconclusive Covid-19 test and has since been retested.
The staff member received the result Wednesday during weekly surveillance testing at the facility.
Upon receiving the result the facility working closely with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health to begin contact tracing those that may have come into contact with the employee.
As a result of the investigation it was determined that the Birchdale neighbourhood to be put into outbreak status and 11 residents have been put into isolation pending the second test result. Families of residents at the facility are in the rpocess of being notified of the situation.
All staff at the facility are tested every 7 days as per Ministry of Health directives. Any resident showing even the slightest evidence of a health change is immediately tested.
