Wellington Terrace Long Term Care home in Fergus has been put into a facility-wide outbreak status.

This as a result of weekly surveillance testing for Covid-19 that resulted in one employee testing positive and another receiving an inconclusive test result.

Both employees are asymptomatic and are isolating at home.

Once the results were received the facility worked closely with Wellington-Dufferin-Guelph Public Health to limit further transmission of the virus. The employees in question were last in the building on December 17th and 18th. All families of residents of the facility have been notified of the situation.

Contact tracing is now underway with those that may have come into contact with the infected employee. Three neighbourhoods are currently in outbreak status.

Wellington Terrance employees are tested every 7 days as per Ministry of Health directives. Any resident or employee showing even the slightest health chances are immediately tested for Covid-19.

The outbreak status prohibits any new resident admissions to Wellington Terrace.
