Both Wellington North Council and citizens can’t find an agreement on a proposed townhouse development.
A meeting held earlier this week tackled the Wilson Developments application to build an 88 unit stacked townhouse development on 461 Wellington Street East in Mount Forest.
During the report, staff made note there were no issues with the proposed development but some delegates spoke during the meeting saying while they are not against development and growth, they had their concerns regarding the surrounding neighbourhood character, property values and traffic.
While some councilors agreed with the issues from residents, others such as Councilor Lisa Hern made note not even her son could find a place to live locally.
“My son is a registered nurse, he tried to buy here and could not and that makes absolutely zero sense why he was able to afford to live in Kitchener and not here. Maybe if he was living here the emergency room wouldn’t have been closed over the weekend.” said Hern.
A decision on the application will be looked at further at a future meeting.
