Wellington North is introducing a new system honouring local athletes.
The new program dubbed the Recognition of Outstanding Sports Achievement Program will allow council to honour those who have championships on a national or international level.
Mayor Andy Lennox in a release saying they are proud of the accomplishments of local athletes and looks forward to recognizing them through the program.
Teams chosen will be invited to a council meeting where they will be given a certificate signed by the Mayor, get their picture taken by council and be shared across social media.
