Wellington North Fire Responds to Early Morning Fires

 

Wellington North Fire crews kept busy over the weekend responding to a structure fire at 2:48am on Saturday.

When firefighters arrived they found a storage building ablaze which contained cardboard product and other items.

The building was empty at the time with no injuries reported. The damage is estimated at $1 million.

Crews were called again at 3:18am to a car fire in the area of Cork Street which risked extension to the surrounding house and shed in the area of the fire.

Fire crews were able to extinguish the blaze before it could spread with no injuries.

Around 60 firefighters attended both scenes with assistant being provided by Minto, Mapleton, West Grey, Southgate and Shelburne.
