Calls for fire crews in Wellington North are on the rise this year.
A report from Fire Chief Chris Harrow to council earlier this week showed as of August 18th, they’ve responded to 264 calls this year, a rise of five per cent when compared to 2022.
Among the highest of calls includes 79 medical, 42 for rescue and 41 false alarms.
Harrow says they are looking at different ways to combat false alarm calls as its a misuse of fire crews time with public education being the most popular.
The report follows up from one in June which looked over the past 2 years for fire calls.
