Wellington County’s Green Legacy Tree Program has opened up once again for residents to plant on their property.
What started out in 2014 as an idea to have 150,000 trees planted to celebrate 150 years of the County quickly grew which in June this year marked 3 million trees planted.
This milestone and program has made it the largest municipal tree planting program in North America.
A wide variety of species are available including Red Pine, Sugar Maple, Black Walnut and American Elm.
The minimum order is 1 bundle or 10 trees with larger orders of 50-100+ encouraged.
In 2010, the program was recognized by the United Nations under the Billion Tree Campaign for its significant environmental contribution.
