Wellington County has approved a staff recommendation for funds previously raised for the Continuum of Care project to be made available for municipalities within the county.
These funds will be used for development of housing to address the availability gap between low end marking housing and subsidized housing.
Council in April directed staff to develop a SWOT Analysis of Alternative Housing Development Models for development in the county.
Around $7 million will be made available to each of the seven local municipalities equally out to $1 million per municipality.
Warden Chris White says the funds allocated for the COC can now be used to come up with solutions to the housing crisis.
