From May 18th to 24th members of the Wellington County OPP participated in the Provincial Canada Road Safety Week Traffic Safety Initiative.
It focused on proactive enforcement of the “Big 4” offences of aggressive driving/speed, impaired driving, distracted driving and seatbelt usage.
They all continue to be significant contributing factors in fatal and personal injury personal vehicle collisions that occur on Ontario roadways far too often.
Wellington OPP conducted a wide variety of high visibility enforcement measures on local roadways in conjunction with RIDE spot checks.
As a result of these efforts Wellington OPP laid 127 charges that break down to:
- Speeding- 107
- Failure to properly Wear Seatbelts- 9
- Failure to properly Wear Seatbelts- 9
- Impaired Operation of a Motor Vehicle- 4
- Fail to Yield- 3
- Drive while Disqualified- 1
- Careless Driving- 1
- Stunt Driving- 1
- Warn Range Suspensions- 1
