Wellington County and Guelph’s pilot food waste collection program saw some amazing success in its first month of operation.
A total of 23 tonnes of food waste has been moved away from landfills to high grade compost as well as moving one tonne of edible food to food security groups.
The Institutional, Commercial and Industrial Organic Waste Pilot started in November between Wellington County and Guelph’s Our Food Future.
Currently there are 45 institutions and industrial participants taking part in the project.
