Starting May 1st, Wellington County is taking a step forward to expand its waste diversion efforts.
Come the start of next month, County Waste Facilities will be equipped to divert drywall and shingles to specialized recycling facilities while mattress deconstruction and diversion techniques will be piloted.
Steve O’Neill, Chair of the Solid Waste Services Committee says by diverting more materials away from landfill, we’re making better use of our facilities, extending the life of our landfill, preserving value space for items and saving money.
